Carl J. Cappabianca


With over 26 years of operational and marketing experience, Carl Cappabianca brings a proven track record of leadership, new product launches, innovative promotional ideas, and sales team management to Gates and Company clients. His highly diversified, technically focused background includes marketing, strategic planning, general management, logistics, and acquisition integration. Mr. Cappabianca has a strong histyr of development and implementation of strategic and tactical marketing plans that produce a balance of short- and long-term results.

Prior to joining Gates and Company, Mr. Cappabianca was head of the sales and marketing team for the integration of the $450 million acquisition of Cambrex by Lonza, Inc. Prior to this post, he was head of Business Development for Lonza’s New Ventures Team in Performance Chemicals; served as Global Head of Lonza’s Personal Care Business Team; and as Marketing Director in the Preservatives and Specialty Actives Business Unit. Mr. Cappabianca’s business and operations experience also extends to positions with AlliedSignal as Global Business Manager, Sealants, in the Specialty Chemicals Division, as well as 16 years with Ashland Chemical, holding positions from Product Manager to Regional Manager to Marketing Manager with that company.

Mr. Cappabianca works with Gates and Company clients to develop strategic and tactical programs for improved revenue, productivity, and competitiveness. He creates innovative differentiation strategies, barriers to competitive entry, and tactics for sustainable competitive advantage. Mr. Cappabianca also provides clients with expertise and depth in market analysis, competitive assessment, value-chain analysis, organizational structure, financial analysis, capital formation, marketing, and sales/channel development.

Mr. Cappabianca earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Fairfield University in Connecticut; and an MBA in Marketing with a Finance minor also Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He has affiliations with several professional organizations, including: Society of Cosmetic Chemists; Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association; Soap & Detergents Association; and Consumer Specialty Products Association.
